Kazakhstan to consider participation in «Silk Road economic belt» project 13.01.2014

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Kairat Sarybay has met with the Chinese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Le Yucheng, the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Kazakhstan informs.

The sides have exchanged views on the entire range of bilateral cooperation focusing on the project named " Silk Road economic belt".

This strategic initiative was launched by President Xi Jinping during his state visit to Kazakhstan in September 2013 and it has received the support of President Nursultan Nazarbayev.

During the meeting Sarybay noted that Kazakhstan is ready to take an active part in the consideration of ways to implement this ambitious project which will cover such aspects of cooperation as economy, trade, investment, culture, and is aimed at moving interregional cooperation to a new level.

Kazakh diplomat stressed that the idea of the project is generally concordant with the previously initiative ''Kazakhstan - New Silk Road" put forward by President Nursultan Nazarbayev, which seeks to promote the development of Kazakhstan as trade, logistics and business hub in Central Asia.
