Especially protected territories to be created to protect Caspian seals 12.03.2010    
 

Astana. Kazakhstan Today - The especially protected territories are planned to be created for protection of the Caspian seals, the agency reports citing the Environmental Protection Ministry.

"The regional meeting on creation of the especially protected territories for the Caspian seals will take place on March 15-16, 2010 in Astana with support of the Environmental Protection Ministry of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The aim of the meeting is discussion of the questions of creation of the networks of the especially protected territories for the Caspian seals and developments of recommendations regarding creation of such territories."

"The representatives of the nature protection ministries, the experts of fish industries of five near-Caspian countries, and the representatives of the international organizations, including the group of international experts researching seals from the University of Leeds, Great Britain, will take part in the meeting."

As informed earlier, 353 dead seals were found in May, 2009 at the coast of the Caspian Sea in the Tupkaragan region of the Mangistau area.
