Astana. Kazakhstan Today - Kazakhstan needs to create an independent agency for protection of water resources. The chief expert of the European Commission project, Bulat Esekin, informed today during the round table - Introduction of Ecological Policy Tools in Kazakhstan, the agency reports.

"We need to create an agency for preservation of water resources. I consider, as an ecologist, that it needs to be named Water Resources Protection Agency that also includes rational use of water resources," B. Esekin said.

"According to the European water directives, all EU countries must define one organization responsible for coordination of all water issues: quality of water, ecological questions. In our country - quality of water - ecology department, underground water - geology department, transboundary - the Ministry of Foreign Affairs."
