Kazakhstan, USA ratified agreement on transit of special cargo to Afghanistan 09.07.2010    
 

Astana. Kazakhstan Today - The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, signed the law on ratification of the agreement between the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the government of the United States of America on maintenance of commercial railway transit of special cargo through the Republic of Kazakhstan territory in connection with participation of the United States of America in the stabilization efforts and restoration of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, the agency reports citing the official mass media.

"The agreement is directed at assistance to efforts on stabilization of the situation in Afghanistan, which will positively influence the situation in Central Asia," K. Umarov informed.


According to Vice Minister, "the agreement regulates the questions of issuing of transit permits, compensation of possible damage, and customs inspection, boundary control, and resolution of disputes and disagreements."


"Transit will be carried out on a commercial basis, that is the American party will pay for services, works, and goods obtained during transportation of goods through the territory of Kazakhstan," K. Umarov informed.
